The next UDI Calgary Breakfast Seminar will be held on September 10, 2008 at the Carriage House Inn (9030 Macleod Trail South) from 7:30 to 9:30 am, in the Windsor Ballroom. Registration for this event will open on August 26th.

Decker Shields and Darrell Burgess with The City of Calgary's Geodemographics Division of Land Use Planning and Policy will be demonstrating their Land Inventory System. Through GIS (Geographic Information System), the Land Inventory System manages current and future land inventory capacity using information supplied by industy, Civic Census data, outline plan applications, etc. The City also uses the Civic Census data to develop the vacant registered lots available, approved vacant tentative plans and pending tentative plans, which hlep to inform the inventory as to the lots coming on stream in the near future. This information is used to compile the City's Suburban Residential Growth Report, which is published annually. Earlier this year, Decker provided a demonstration to UDI's Planning Committee, who were "blown away" by the quantity and quality of information contained within this system.
